For many people in Philadelphia and around the world, the month of October is dedicated to all things autumn and Halloween. The pumpkin spice coffee starts flowing and everyone begins considering the best events to attend. To help you get started making the most of the spookiest month in the year, we put together suggestions for Halloween-themed events in October.
- THE GLOW: Philadelphia, October 6 to 20, 2017
Carving and checking out jack-o-lanterns is a staple of Halloween. THE GLOW: Philadelphia brings you the best and most creative jack-o-lanterns you will see all year. The event is a 1/3-mile trail in West Fairmount Park lit with over 5,000 hand-carved pumpkins. Attendees will experience these pieces as well as larger-than-life Halloween structures.
The walk will take between 30 to 45 minutes, and tickets sell in 30-minute intervals so everyone can take their time. The event is family-friendly, and children under two years old receive free admission. THE GLOW also provides a reserved time slot for Autism Speaks. And remember, you are hungry for a cheesesteak in Philly after your event, come see us at Geno’s Steaks.
- 3rd Annual Mischief at the Mütter, October 27, 2017
For the third consecutive year, the Mütter Museum opens its doors for Mischief at the Mütter! The Mütter is a medical history museum with preserved collections of models, medical instruments of old, and anatomical specimens. Attendees of Mischief at the Mütter get the opportunity to view the museum’s collections and enjoy drinks from the bar – all in costume. The museum is already a spooky spot, so the party is sure to thrill.
Organizers promise this year will be bigger and better with prizes, surprises, and secrets revealed. More details are forthcoming, but this party will be one for the books.
- Manayunk’s Haunted Brewery Bash, October 28 to 29, 2017
The Manayunk Haunted Brewery Bash is another great event for some 21+ fun. The event includes two floors of entertainment and DJs, an outdoor patio, drink specials, a costume contest, and more. The costume contest will have $500 in cash and prizes.
The event is offering general and VIP admission tickets. VIP includes an open bar from 8 to 11 p.m., private VIP lines, a buffet, and more.
There are a ton more activities throughout the month of October, including Terror Beyond the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary and bar crawls such as Night of the Crawling Dead, Witch Craft Beer Crawl and much more. Happy haunting, and be sure to come warm up with us at Geno’s for a piping hot cheesesteak in Philly!
