With all the hustle and bustle of the 2016 Democratic National Convention, everything that happened is hard to keep track of. If you are a fan of the Daily Show, you probably saw them feature their favorite place to get a cheese steak while talking about the event. Are you wondering where that is? Look no further than Geno’s Steaks.
The Daily Show with Trever Noah tackled the 2016 DNC in a humorous manner, speaking about historical sites around Philadelphia such as the statue of William Penn on top of City Hall. He also mentioned Michelle Obama’s powerful speech, which was one that is sure to have an impact for years to come.
There was also a skit by Jordan Klepper and Hasan Minhaj in which they destroyed phones of random Democrats in a satirical attempt “to prevent another email scandal”. The two men used various methods to break the visitor’s phones, such as smashing them under their feet or tossing them over their shoulder. What was possibly the most creative (and delicious) way was when they made a stop at Geno’s Steaks. Minhaj handed a phone to Geno himself, who promptly created a “wiz witout”. For those of you unfamiliar with the Geno’s lingo, that delectable creation is one cheesesteak with Cheese Wiz and no onions. America watched as Geno tossed the phone on the grill, tucked it into the fresh, soft cheese steak bun, and smothered it with warm cheese.
Geno’s Steaks was proud to get in on the fun recap of the 2016 Democratic National Convention. If you stopped by while in town for it, thank you for coming and we hope you enjoyed our steaks as much as we enjoyed serving them to you. Next time you’re in the city, be sure to come back and indulge in Philadelphia’s favorite cheese steak.
