Looking for ways to get into the Halloween spirit? Blur the lines between the living and the dead by embarking on the Ghost Tour of Philadelphia. Every night at 7:30 p.m., you can join other ghost hunters and take a step into the past on a candlelight tour of our historic city.
Led by a costumed guide, this 75- to 90-minute walking tour explores multiple historic sites at
Independence Park and Society Hill. Each place has a spooky story or tale of some paranormal activity, and the creepiest part is that all of the stories have been historically documented through research and interviews. Unlike most other ghost tours throughout the country, the Philadelphia Ghost Tour uses history as a vehicle to tell stories, making these hauntings seem even more real.
Curious about who some of the ghosts of Philadelphia are? There are some names you may recognize, including:
- Benjamin Franklin
- Benedict Arnold
- Alexander Hamilton
- Edgar Allen Poe
- Betsy Ross
The Philadelphia Ghost Tour is one of the best ways to get excited about Halloween! Guests are allowed to bring cameras to hopefully catch some spooky images that show proof of some of Philadelphia’s ghosts. These outdoor tours are rain or shine, so come prepared with umbrellas, appropriate clothing, and whatever else you need to enjoy the tour.
After all that walking, don’t forget to satisfy your hunger by stopping at Geno’s Steaks to pick up a cheesesteak, hoagie, or delicious sandwich. Don’t worry, we don’t have any tricks – just treats!
