Head down to Independence Mall on Monday, July 3 from 12 to 7 p.m. for the annual Philadelphia Historic District Block Party. This fun-filled event precedes the highly anticipated Fourth of July celebrations, which occur the following day throughout the city. There are many exciting aspects to look forward to on the block party’s third anniversary.
Music
Come hear the talented featured acts, including the Dixieland Band, barbershop quartets, and other pop-up performances and parades. The night ends with the Wawa! Welcome America celebration, where the Philly POPS will take the stage.
Live Shows
The Kimmel Center will provide a sneak peek at the 2017 to 2018 Philadelphia Broadway season. This performance, called the “Independence Weekend Salute to Musical Theater” is a fun way to relax with your family. Watch previews of Philadelphia’s greatest stars and get excited for the upcoming season.
Crafters
Like any great block party, there will be craft booths posted around Independence Mall, selling items like jewelry, paintings, and clothing. Come see what Philadelphia’s craft vendors have created!
Fun for Kids
The local fire and police departments will be in attendance to provide educational fun for children of all ages. Children will have the opportunity to board firetrucks and explore the vehicles. There will also be lawn games and other activities tailored for kids throughout the day. Children can also compete in events like wheelbarrow races and bubble blowing.
