From now until Sunday, August 27, head over to the Academy of Music at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts to catch a memorable performance of Wicked on Broadway in Philadelphia. The Academy of Music is located on 240 South Broad Street.
What is Wicked?
Based off the book by Winnie Holzman, Wicked tells the untold story of Elphaba and Glinda, the two most infamous witches in the Land of Oz. Before becoming the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch, respectively, the two women started out as college roommates at Shiz University. The women go through a roller coaster of events, from love interests to power struggles, that ultimately lead them to the destinies everyone knows from The Wizard of Oz. The music, written by Stephen Schwartz, is incredible and memorable, including well-known pieces such as “Defying Gravity” and “Popular.”
Performance Details
The performance is two hours and 51 minutes long with a 15-minute intermission between the two acts. Please note there are instances of haze, fog, and strobe lights during the performance. For those with sensitivities to strobe lights, they occur 55 and 65 minutes into the first act and 25 minutes into the second.
