If you frequently visit Philadelphia, you may know about its restaurant and bar scene or city staples such as the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, but just outside the city you can check out the wildly popular Nightscape, a beautiful nighttime light and sound display throughout sections of Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square.
Offered every Wednesday through Saturday until October 29, Nightscape utilizes the flowers, trees, and shrubbery of Longwood Gardens combined with lights, music, and projections to create an extraordinary audiovisual display that dances across the evening sky. Beginning at 6 p.m., you can journey through each indoor and outdoor exhibit, and as the sun goes down, Nightscape will only become even more vibrant.
There are 11 exhibits peppered throughout the 1,000-acre property, and each one has a different lighting pattern, music, and type of greenery, so make sure you give yourself at least an hour and a half to get the most of the experience. Since darkness makes Nightscape even better, the recommended best times to begin your tour are 8 p.m. in September and 7 p.m. in October.
Due to extreme popularity, Nightscape tends to sell out, so pick your date and purchase your tickets in advanced online. Admission to Nightscape is $27 for adults 19 and older, $17 for children five to 18, and free for children under four. Included in the ticket price is all day admission, which means you can come early and leave late – so make a day of it!
Once the exhibit closes at 11 p.m., and you’ve walked around and worked up an appetite, your friends at Geno’s Steaks can hook you up with an amazing sandwich because we are ALWAYS open!
