The Best Outdoor Attractions During the Holiday Season in Philadelphia

Philadelphia does not let cold temperatures slow the city down. The home of the famous Philly cheesesteak hosts a variety of winter attractions to help residents and visitors enjoy the season. For example, the Rothman Ice Rink and America’s Garden Capital Maze at Dilworth Park are great activities for the whole family.

The Rothman Institute Ice Rink at Dilworth Park is already open to the public for its fourth year in a row. The ice rink is located smack dab in the middle of the city, with beautiful views in all directions. Skating is open to all ages and skill levels, and admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 10 and under. Ice skate rentals are available for $10.

An exciting addition to the Dilworth Park festivities is America’s Garden Capital Maze. Created in partnership with Greater Philadelphia Gardens, the maze is a beautiful show of twinkling lights, seasonal plants, and images of historic locations within and surrounding Philadelphia. The maze displays plants from over 30 local gardens.

Around the corner, attendees will find the Philadelphia Christmas Village, winner of Philly.com’s Readers’ Choice Award for Best Outdoor Amusement. Located at LOVE Park, the village is modeled after traditional German Christmas markets. It features over 80 vendors selling European cuisine and arts and crafts from across the globe. The Christmas Village opens on November 23, 2017, and admission is free. It is one of the best places in the city to find unique gifts for the whole family.

Of course, one of the best ways to warm up after holiday activities is with a famous Philly cheesesteak from Geno’s Steaks. Or you can stop by Geno’s Gear shop before heading to Center City and pick up a sweatshirt to represent your Philadelphia pride while you ice skate and shop.
